Renovation home safety tips
See our handy safety tips to keep your home protected during your renovation.
Extensive renovation whereby your alarm will be disabled
- Do not update social media about your renovation plans. If you wish to do so, it’s best to post after your renovation is complete.
- Keep valuables out of plain sight, ensure expensive items such as computers, tablets, phones or jewellery are out of plain sight or stored in safes or other secure locations.
- Don’t keep spare keys outside, give them to a neighbour or family member instead.
- Collect your post regularly.
- Ask neighbours to take out your bins if you aren’t available to do so.
- If you have a lawn, keep it cut and trees / plants pruned.
- If you have smart plugs, set them to come on for a short period of time in the evening to make it look as if your home is occupied.

- Arm your alarm, make sure to turn on your alarm once your renovation works for left your home to ensure it’s fully protected by us.
